Gift tags made from recycled christmas cards {and a guest post}

I took down our christmas cards yesterday. Rather than throw them out I recycled them into gift tags ready to use next christmas. I was actually a bit sneaky this christmas and recycled many of this years cards as tags before christmas was even over. At least I won't have to do that again next year. I simply cut a gift tag shape out of the front of cards, making sure there wasn't any writing on the back so that I have a blank side to write a message on. I then punched a hole ready for twine, wool or ribbon

A guest post: Yay! I'm now part of the team over at Childhood 101

I was thrilled when Christie of Childhood 101 asked me to be part of part of her new team.  My first post is up today. I write about my new years resolution to facilitate more unstructured outdoor play for Little Eco.

Speaking of New Year's resolutions, you have to read about Meg and Patrick's New Year's resolution. The've gone car-free. And they live in the country! I'm inspired.

Also, if you are quick, you have time to enter a giveaway for a gorgeous Little Jenny Wren doll. Entries close 1pm today.

On taking a breather (my midlife gap year)

declared 2017 my ‘midlife gap year’—a year off to focus on living life rather than earning a living. A year to pause and ponder before moving onto the second half of my life. I embraced all the ‘r’ words: retreat, reflection, reevaluation, rejuvenation, and restoration. I found the whole experience so worthwhile, my midlife gap year extended to two years. It took that long for my pause to pay off, for me to reemerge—restored, renewed and ready.

How to create the time to live YOUR fair and sustainable life?

Almost a year ago I wrote here that I was going to step away from this space for a month – to focus on home and start the new year with a calm mind and a clear vision.

It seems one month wasn’t enough. This space became one of the many casualties of me ruthlessly clearing the clutter from my schedule. A move that was necessary for me to move even closer to living the life that I aspire to.

We can’t have and do everything – we have to choose. And I chose to focus on home for a while.
