10 reasons to embrace timber toys
Wednesday, 24 October 2012
I love timber toys.
#1. I love that they are pretty enough that I don't mind them scattered throughout our living area.
#2. I love that they usually come with a story.
#3. I love that they will likely last generations because they are beautiful enough to keep and to pass on.
#4. I love that you can easily find them pre-loved, like this dolls house.
#5. I love that you can buy toys made from sustainably harvested timber, like this dolls house furniture made from natural rubberwood from rubber trees which no longer produce latex.
#6. I love that the simplicity of timber toys seems to encourage imaginary play - more so than plastic toys with batteries, bells and whistles.
#7. I love that they are durable enough to last a lifetime, or more. I wonder how many children have played with this old kitchen hutch?
#8. I love that their strength and simplicity makes them almost impossible to break.
#9. I love that timber is a renewable resource.
#10. I love that timber is biodegradable.
Do you love timber toys too?
A giveaway from Eco Toys
Melinda from Australian online store Eco Toys has generously offered to giveaway a timber toy to one lucky Little Eco Footprints reader.
I'm more than happy to help promote Eco Toys. The toys they stock are 'crafted from natural, sustainable, recyclable, biodegradable and/or recycled materials'. I also love that they 'support Australian made, Australian designed and ethical manufacturers'.
Would you like to win one of these gorgeous My Nature Habitats?
