Quick & frugal, unpackaged & non-toxic, I love homemade playdough {a recipe}

This morning while in the midst of making breakfast, trying to find enough food to fill three lunch boxes, and checking dinner was sorted for tonight, Little Eco asked me to make a batch of play dough. I was about to throw my arms up in the air and proclaim that there was no way in the world that I had time to make playdough and that she'll just have to wait until tonight. But then I thought, it would keep her out of my hair entertained while I got on with things, and really playdough doesn't take that long to make.
Five minutes later Little Eco was happily kneading her new batch of blue playdough and she didn't bother me played independently for the next 30 minutes.
Quick and easy uncooked playdough recipe
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon oil
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 cup of boiling water, with a few drops of food colouring added
Mix together all dry ingredients and oil, then quickly add boiling water, stirring rapidly as the dough thickens. Knead on a floured surface until smooth, adding more flour if dough is sticky.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
Enjoy :-)
