We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors....

list of tips, mushrooms and backyard fish...

Just a few of last weeks eco stories that had me thinking.....

..about everything!..

As I will discuss in more detail soon, I have been feeling very overwhelmed by the resolution I have set myself (to make sustainable living a way of life rather than a challenge). Where do I start? There are so many changes I need to make! I'm not sure whether this great list of tips for living lightly is extremely helpful or has just made me feel even more overwhelmed...But either way I am sure I will be revisiting it many times over the coming months.

...about my garden...

How wonderful would it be to harvest fish and mushrooms from your very own backyard!

Darren from Green Change has inspired me with his home grown mushrooms. He grows them from mushroom compost bought cheaply from a mushroom farm.  Not only does he get 2-3 kg of mushrooms a week, as an added bonus he can use the mushroom compost on the garden once all the mushrooms are finished!

I'd also love to have an aquaponics system and grow fish in our backyard. However, based on comments this week at down-to-earth, I think we will wait until we have a little more spare time. We have kept tropical fish for around 5 years now, so we understand how much effort it can take to keep on top of water quality. But wouldn't it be lovely to sit and watch the fish! Maybe one day....
